For this Weekly Me I’m going to take a moment to rant…just a little bit….I promise.
There were moments while I was in the midst of creating the concept of Devoted to Me when I became exceptionally frustrated upon hearing and seeing the struggles our world was going through.
I was once again reminded of that yesterday as I passed a gas station and saw $4.09 for a tank of regular gas. At this price it hurts financially for most of us but for me it goes deeper than that. It is about CHOICE.
Last year the three biggest oil companies took in $80 billion in profit. At the same time our U.S. government gave them a $4 billion subsidy. That’s extra so they can go and explore clean-energy fuel alternatives.
There are currently 12.9 million people out of work.
Here is where it all ties together.
The oil companies continue to make and accept HUGE sums of money. Most of us struggle to get by. Is there a choice they have the power to make? Should they feel responsible for us? I say YES.
You see, when I had my internal shift that led me on this path I began to see that while we all have choices to make we cannot make them selfishly. I need to make choices that are definitely good for me. I need to make choices that are good for my family. I also need to make sure that my choices are good for you too.
In my view and the foundation that Devoted to Me stands on is that if my choice makes it bad for one, it is bad for all. Everyone matters. No exceptions or excuses will justify the choice if even one person is hurt.
The oil companies are allowed to make a profit but when is it enough?
The government is allowed to give the oil companies an incentive to look for alternatives but what is being sacrificed to do it? Then again can’t they afford to pay for it themselves?
I have a right to make my own choice but not at your expense.
We are all Responsible.
Tony Robbins, a motivational speaker, says “Look at the truth and see it as it is but not worse than it is.” As I said before it was tough for me to look at the truth without feeling at times like I was losing my mind. The world right now is, at times, very harsh and full of greed.
At the same time I have faith that our world is in the place it needs to be. I am full of hope because many of us are waking up individually to see that we have a responsibility to make choices that are right for everyone.
In my opinion, businesses and government are slower to get it. I believe they will get it eventually, they will have no choice. I just hope it doesn’t take too much longer as we continue to shoulder the burden.
If only this were an April fool’s joke. Ha. Ha.

Devoted to Me begins with me and continues to you. Accept it. Pass it on.
