My Story

Christie Davis

For some time I’ve been on a journey to be a better wife, mother and overall healthier person.  From reading books such as You can Heal Your Life by Louise L. Hay and Discover the Power Within You by Eric Butterworth to the Oprah Life classes I utilized these to feed my soul.  Without them I know I would not have had the experience that has set me on the course I am on now.

It was Wednesday October 5th, 2011 and I decided to ride my bike to work.  Along the way back I had a very brief but heated exchange with a stranger.  And the truth be told, I started it.  I felt he was wrong for not letting me go before him and I made a sarcastic remark.  He was in a convertible so could hear me.   What he shouted back at me was filled with such rage that it shocked me.  And that was it.

As I rode away at the snap of a finger a shift happened within me.   A thought popped into my head, peace begins with me.   It was then that I completely understood that if I wanted people to be peaceful I had to offer it first.  I need to be responsible for anything and everything that I say to myself and others.

I know it seems like such a simple thing.  But I’m here to say that the shift was so sudden and so deep within me that the words for the book flowed from me.  Every word came through me and I could not stop them if I tried.  Words that belong to all human beings…Beauty, Change, Choice, Faith, Gratitute, Happiness, Love, Peace, Purpose, Respect, Strength, and Truth. I knew I was saying all of these words to me but at the same time felt that it was for a bigger purpose. I could feel it.

I turned away from the project to tune into the news.   There were moments where I was filled with such anger and frustration at the choices that were being made.  At the same time I paid attention to what is happening with the children here and all over the world.  I’m aware it’s not all doom and gloom; however, we are living in a time where there is minimal accountability. We say and do what we want without regard for each other.  Many of us have the thought that we are only responsible for our own inner circle versus the entire world.  The shift allowed me to see things differently.  Trust me when I say with a husband, two children and a big extended family including a twin sister this was often a very overwhelming and intense time for them.  After all they were witnessing my potential insanity.

But it was through this process that the path became so clear to me.  I believe that I was being led down this path by something bigger than myself.   It was as if a big red carpet rolled out before me that led me to the future.  I could see it so plainly.

I needed to share the positive words within the book so that others could create a shift within their own self.  They would then see as clearly as me that we are responsible and accountable for our actions because it impacts not only our family but the world.  It is obvious though that just because we read some positive words to ourselves it is not always enough.  We need to carry these words with us as we go about our lives thus the reason for the intention bracelet.  Read the words, wear the words, feel and ultimately believe the words and we will all be transformed.

First and foremost this has been about creating a better me and I recognize it will be my lifetime mission.  This is why I always close with Devoted to Me begins with me.  It continues to you because it feels so good that I can’t help but share it.   It is with the hope to inspire everyone, most importantly the young, to accept it and pass it on.  I see a whole generation of young people who are in pain and struggling to find their way in the world today.  They are our future and the connection to their inner voice needs to be strengthened.  We need to teach them how to drown out the noise around them.

I’m a mother with a strong intuition about the path that our children can be led down that connects them to this inner voice.  Once there it is understood that being a human being is a privilege that comes with immense responsibility we all have for making our world a better place.

And now you know my story.  Thanks for listening.
