  • Human beings have the upper hand.

This Weekly Me is about a gift that only human beings have.

For a moment think of the first bird that comes to mind.

Perhaps you thought of a Blue Jay, a Cardinal, or maybe a Hawk, Eagle or even a Chicken.   Whichever one you thought of, next ask which one of these birds questions why they were born a bird?  Or questions why their feathers are a certain color?  Or asks why they look different from other birds?

What’s the answer?  None of them do.

If given the chance what would they change?  Nothing; they were not born with emotion or choices to make.   Their main priority in life is to find food and shelter for themselves and their young.

It is with this thought that we need to recognize that we as human beings have the upper hand.  We have been given a gift and yet we are not using it to its full potential.  The gift of emotion and choice.  Many of us choose to use our emotions to live in a constant state of self-doubt for who we are and think that if we only had this or that or looked this way or that way we would be everything and more. All that does is weaken us and distance us from who we are meant to be.  It weakens those around us too because we feed this drama to each other by the spoonful with jealousy and competition.

We need to remember that our gift of emotion is for experiencing things that brings us closer to who we are. When we are living life to the fullest with our emotion we can feel things that take us to the moon and back.  We can laugh until our bellies hurt.  We can cry for no reason and when we let the tears flow feel so much better afterwards.

It’s living consistently from this place that gives us the ability to make the right choices and leads us to fulfill why we were born in the first place.  Because each of us was born with a greater purpose then even we can possibly imagine.  That is why we were born a human being and not a bird.

A state of acceptance for who I am allows me to accept you for who you are. When you do so as well together we make the world a better place and like birds we invite beauty and grace with our gift of emotion and choice.

The gift is not to be wasted.

    Until next time….

Devoted to Me begins with me and continues to you.  Accept it.  Pass it on.
